It all started behind the wheel. Driving for Uber led to spontaneous bourbon runs and some of the most genuine conversations I’ve ever had. It all started behind the wheel. Driving for Uber led to spontaneous bourbon runs and some of the most genuine conversations I’ve ever had. People would ask how to get to the trail, but their questions were really about something else. I could tell by the way they asked. It wasn’t just “How do I get to the distillery?” It was “Where do the locals go?” or “Is there a place that still feels authentic?” They were looking for the non-touristy side of Kentucky. And the truth is, so was I. We were all searching for the places with real stories and real spice, the ones that don’t make it into the brochures but leave a lasting impression.
I kept hearing the same thing over and over. “I wish we had found you before we planned our trip,” or “We learned more during this 15-minute ride to the airport than we did all weekend.” That’s when I realized something was missing from the typical bourbon experience. That’s how Sipping in the South came to life.
We’re not part of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail™, and I’ve told guests for years, it’s not really a trail. It’s more of a brochure, made up of distilleries and a few transportation companies that had the money to join the program. Kentucky has more than 95 distilleries, but only about half participate. If you’re only following what’s printed in the brochure, you’re missing some of the best bourbon and most unforgettable stops in the state.
I’m Angelique, and I’ve spent the past few years turning bourbon detours and cookie-cutter outings into unforgettable tours filled with stories and the real personality of Kentucky. Coming from corporate America, I was used to feedback forms, surveys, and waiting months for anything to actually change.
This company is driven by immediate guest feedback. If someone has a great idea or shares something that could make the experience better, I don’t wait for a committee or a quarterly review. I try it the next day. That kind of responsiveness is what makes Sipping in the South feel personal, flexible, and always evolving.
You know how Carrie Bradshaw had a love affair with New York, the kind where she knew all the tucked-away spots and the people behind the scenes? That’s how I feel about Louisville and bourbon country. I’ve fallen in love with this place, with its flavor, its history, and its heartbeat. And now I get to share it with people who are looking for more than just a tour.
When you tour with Sipping in the South, you’re not just taking a van ride and collecting a stamp. You’re stepping into something much more authentic. A tour that shows you the soul, the character, and just the right amount of scandal.
We’ll take you to the places they don’t mention and share the stories others are too polite to print. You won’t find some of our stops in a brochure, but you’ll remember them long after the last pour.
You don’t have to worry about a thing. We handle the planning, the tickets, the transportation, and everything else along the way. We’ve got the bourbon knowledge, but we have even better gossip and hospitality.
The rich history of bourbon, the folklore and the crafsmanship behind each bottle, and the beauty woven through Kentucky's disilleries all resonate deeply.
